Age: Eight months
Stats.: 23.8 pounds (same as last month). Maybe all of Rhett's jumping and trying to move around has evened out his weight.
Eating: We have tried to introduce a few baby foods, but he definitely prefers sweet potatoes and pears. He is eating more fruits and veggies than ever before, but he still has a little rice or oatmeal cereal. Rhett also likes his bottle and sippy cup.
Sleeping: Rhett caught another cold earlier this month which resulted in a tooth! This caused a few hiccups in his sleep schedule (waking up once or twice during the night). However, there were a handful of times when he slept through the entire night this month. He can be pretty unpredictable, but he sleeps well at night. He also likes to sleep on his side with his security blanket in his hands. It's so cute.
Development: Like I said before, Rhett finally has a tooth poking through! We noticed this on March 15. Rhett had a stuffy/runny nose and a little cough, and soon after we felt his first tooth. He hasn't been overly fussy by any means. Rhett is also getting so strong and will probably start crawling at any time. He can push himself up so well, and even tuck his knees under, but can't seem to make the next move. He is so curious and will be getting into everything in no time!
Likes: Rhett loves playing peek-a-boo with us. He also likes to put a blanket over his head and then we'll ask "Where's Rhett?" and he will pull the blanket down to reveal his big smile and that little sparkle in his eyes. He loves chewing on just about anything he can get his little hands (we call them mitts) on. Because the weather has been so nice this month, we brought him on a few stroller rides which he really likes! The hard part is trying to keep the bright sun out of his eyes. He likes to pull off his hat (and sunglasses) every time we put them on him. Rhett also likes to sit up in the shopping cart and look around the grocery store. He is so observant and barely even seems to blink! Overall, he loves to play, smile, take baths, go on car and stroller rides, and observe others. He especially likes watching the older boys at daycare, and every time I go to pick him up after work he is surrounded by the boys. It is so much fun to see him interacting with other kids already. He is also giggling more and more and melting our hearts with every laugh.
Dislikes: Rhett is starting to not like when Mom or Dad walk out of a room. He will make a little fussing noise, but then is generally okay. He likes to be the center of attention, and we have no problem with that. :) Rhett is still little apprehensive about new people, but that is pretty normal. He also seems to know what he wants and when he wants it. Sometimes when we try to feed him his baby food he will just quickly turn his head back and forth like he's saying "no, no, no."
Clothes: 12-18 months
We can't believe our baby is getting so big, but every day is an adventure, and we fall in love with him more and more every day. Mom and Dad love you so much, Rhett, and we can't wait to see what's in store for next month!
