Rhett: 1 year!

Age: 12 months! ONE YEAR!
Stats.: 26.3 pounds, 31 inches
Eating: Rhett is eating more and more table food. He LOVES yogurt and mac & cheese best. He has also warmed up to pears and peaches. He will eat pancakes, some bread, cheese, and his puffs. We still have quite a bit of baby food left, so he has been eating some of that too. Rhett gets one, maybe two bottles a day and we've started adding whole milk to the formula (about 3 oz of milk and 5 oz formula). Within the next month he will be off formula and just drinking milk. He also drinks a lot of water in his sippy (straw) cup. He has a little milk throughout the day in his sippy too.
Sleeping: This past month has been a little tricky. Just about every time we lower Rhett into his crib he starts crying. He has spent a few nights in our bed, which he really seems to like, but we don't want that to be a new habit. I've sat next to him on the floor (while he is in his crib), and made a "shh, shh" noise. A couple times he fell asleep after that. It's so cute how he tries to move as close to me, grabs his blanket, and snuggles up. Rhett has also been waking up (not every night, but often) at 4 A.M. We usually just go into his room and make the "shh, shh" noise and he'll fall back asleep. We've moved past a bottle in the middle of the night. He really doesn't need it, and he can fall back asleep without it just fine. Rhett still gets a bottle before bed, however. We've been so busy this past month (weddings, travel, etc), and we think Rhett is getting more teeth, so there could be a number of factors throwing off any sort of routine we've tried to establish. On most days, Rhett takes ONE hour-hour and a half nap. We've just come to accept that our little boy is very energetic and doesn't need to much sleep to function! He is always so happy, so we can't complain!
Development: Rhett has eight teeth and we think more are on the way. Rhett is SO CLOSE to walking, but still prefers to crawl (fast). Rhett is SO curious and loves playing with all sorts of toys. He loves trucks and cars, puzzles, tractors, and his jack-in-the-box. He likes to ride his truck from uncles Joel and Blake around the house! He is sitting on one leg with the other tucked under as well. I think he learned this from his friend Peyton! It is amazing how much Rhett is learning. He can point to just about everyone, and when we ask him "Where is your mouth?" he sticks out his tongue! It's amazing how he can point to the "cow" or the "puppy" animal magnets on our fridge. He also can identify the Packers logo thanks to Grandma Becky! We are so proud of our smart little boy.
Likes: bath time, playing with toys, music"Paw Patrol" show, stroller rides... just about everything!
Dislikes: the only thing this month I can think of is his crib at night/nap times and he hasn't ate a lot of meat (table food...he will eat baby food with meat, however)

Clothes: 18-24 months
We really can’t believe that today we no longer have a “baby” but a “toddler.” Rhett, you fill our lives with so much purpose. Being parents to you is by far the best thing that has ever happened to us. We are so blessed. Yes, some days have been long and challenging, but every day has been beyond rewarding and filled with love. You are our everything, Rhett. You are a sweet, spunky, focused, silly, smart, and strong boy. You are energetic, loving, playful, and sensitive. You are loved more than you will ever know. Happy FIRST birthday to our sweet boy!
 Love,
Mom & Dad
