Rhett: 6 Months

Age: six months. I can't believe our baby is already a half year old!
Stats.: 22.6 pounds! Rhett is 27.5 inches long and his head circumference is 18.75 centimeters. He is in the 99th percentile for his weight and head circumference. He is in the 75th percentile for his height.
Eating: Just recently, we've started feeding Rhett sweet potatoes and more rice cereal. He seems to like it too...especially when it's all washed down with a little milk. :)
Sleeping: Rhett was back to sleeping through the night (it was heavenly) after he got over his Christmas cold, but that ended about two days ago when he caught yet another nasty cold. This time he is very congested, which is worse than a runny nose, in my opinion. We feel pretty helpless, but are doing all the typical things... running a humidifier, rubbing baby Vicks on his chest and back, and putting a pillow under his mattress to slightly elevate him. I am also diffusing peppermint essential oil in his room at night to help him breath better and rub a little R.C. Young Living essential oil on his feet and toes (diluted with Jojoba Oil) to help boost his immunity and overall mood. We just started using more essential oils (thanks, Mom) with Rhett and hope to see some positive results. I really hope he gets over his cold soon and is back to sleeping soundly through the night. Fingers crossed!
Development: So much has been happening this past month! Rhett is now what I would consider an unsupported sitter. He may lose his balance and topple over occasionally (or get too curious about a toy and lean too far forward), but we always build a "nest" around him with blankets and pillows to catch his fall. He loves to roll from his back to his tummy, but is unable to roll back to his back...which usually results in a few tears shed. Our little "tender heart" is definitely starting to recognize faces and gets a little scared when seeing new people.
Likes: Rhett will probably love jumping in his jumper until Mom and Dad decide that he is way over the weight limit...until then...    He also loves grabbing for toys, especially books, and he even plays pat-a-cake! He enjoys sucking on his toes whenever he is able to reach them and wash cloths during bath time. This month, Rhett sat up in the shopping cart, which was so much fun. We call him Mr. Nosey because he loves to look around at everyone and everything. Rhett also loves when we sing silly songs to him (in our not-so great voices). I think that's what makes him smile most lately. He especially seems to enjoy our renditions of the "Winnie the Pooh" theme song.
Dislikes: Dark, loud, crowded rooms with lots of people.
Clothes: 12+ months
Rhett brings so much joy into our lives and every one else he meets. He is perfect in every way and every day we thank God for letting us be his parents. Stop growing up so fast, Mr. Rhett! We love you very, very much!
