Stats: Weighs about 30 pounds. 33 inches tall (2 feet 9 inches).
Milestones: Rhett has been sleeping in his "big boy bed" for weeks now. YAY! It has been going SO WELL. We are very proud of this big milestone! I was worried that Rhett would just simply not stay in his bed, but he has only crawled out of his bed once. It was pretty funny, too. We were watching him on our video monitor, and I noticed he was crawling out of bed. Michael walked into his room and the look on Rhett's face (on the monitor) was priceless. He looked quite worried once "Dada" was walking into the room and caught him out of his bed. He quickly ran and jumped back into bed. I believe that was on his third or fourth night in his new bed. Anyways, he is sleeping much better and hasn't made his way into our bed to date. He sleeps through the night (well sometimes there is the occasional groaning noises he makes while he's sleeping), but I really just think he was ready to get out of that crib. He honestly gets so excited once it's bed time. He always looks so proud and smiley when he crawls into his bed and grabs his blankets. The next milestone to tackle is potty training. I feel like this will be the most challenging task yet, but we'll start small. Lately Rhett has not been happy when we change his diaper. It is a struggle unless we can distract him with a book or TV show. He just throws a fit every single time. Maybe that's our sign that he's ready to be done with diapers? It just seems so early... he isn't even two yet! We'll see what happens!
Rhett has been talking (and singing) more and more. It is so fun to hear him learning new words. He often repeats and mimics us. Michael came home from baseball practice one day and was mentioning that his knees hurt. Rhett loves "neigh" rides (piggy back rides) and would literally have us carry him around the house all day, if he could. After numerous times, Michael was saying "Rhett, my knees hurt." Soon after, Rhett kept saying, "Knees! My Knees!" It was pretty funny! His favorite songs to sing are definitely "Mr. Sun" and "Baa Baa Black Sheep." He also really enjoys the Raffi albums.
Rhett still hasn't succumbed to vegetables, but he is eating a wider variety. He loves pizza, yogurt, ice cream, pasta with red sauce, chicken, fruit (blueberries, oranges, strawberries, bananas, raspberries), waffles/pancakes, popcorn shrimp, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and hotdogs (probably in that order). We've tried offering him all sorts of vegetables (and he loved vegetables in jarred baby food form), but we haven't had much luck in that area. He doesn't even care for mashed potatoes. He will eat a tator tot or french fry, though.
Favorite Things: He definitely loves being outside. He jumped on his first trampoline a week ago, and had a ball running around and falling over. He loves throwing rocks (sort-of random), pushing his lawn mower, playing with bubbles, hitting his ball of the tee, going on stroller rides, and just running around in the fresh air. We've noticed that he really goes in phases of toys/activities. This month he hasn't been as obsessed with his Toy Story toys. He also hasn't been asking to play with my phone. He seems to be more into blocks, tools, and books. He really likes those little "army guys" (as we call them) and, of course, his "baby" (blanket). The other night, Michael was reading Rhett a couple books before bed. I don't know how many books Rhett actually has, but there are two full rows filled on the large bookshelf in his room, so there's a variety. After selecting a couple books, Michael said "Ok, one more." Rhett looked, looked, and looked some more. He finally decided on How Spider Saved Easter... this just so happens to be Michael's least favorite book that Rhett has (for whatever reason). Maybe you had to be there, but we laughed and laughed at this. Even though Michael is not a big fan, he read it anyway.
Least Favorite Things: diaper changes, washing his hair during bath time, haircuts (this month anyways)
Rhett, you are growing by leaps and bounds. Time has gone by so fast! We are so excited for you to step into your new role as a big brother soon. We love you more than you'll ever know. Stay your sweet, silly, loving self forever. <3
